ROMEX® D1 paving grouting is a two-component resin jointing mortar (grout) suitable for driveways, parking spaces, and all vehicular loading applications up to 7.5 tons. It is also self-compacting and suitable for 5mm wide joints on concrete and clay paving and natural stone surfaces. Not only is it easy to install, but it is also resistant to mining ants, weeds, and frost, and is pressure washer safe.

In South Africa, cement grouting is generally used between pavers and flagstones. There are various recipes and methods, but cement grouting seldom performs the way intended. Common problems associated with it are cracking and popping out, permanent staining, and picture framing of pavers. Experience has further shown that it is virtually impossible to repair failed cement jointing. ROMEX® D1 paving grouting offers a solution to the above-mentioned problems.

Product Specification

CAUTION: When pavers are very hot, we recommend colling them down with water, prior to installation. Do not let the product sit on the pavers for extended periods. Work it into the joints immediately.

1. Mixture

Pour the two-part mix into the sand mixture

2. Add Water

Fill the empty Romex bottles with water twice and add to the mix.

3. Mix

Mix for at least 6 minutes using a drill attachment, cement mixer, or hand shovel. (Tip: Continue mixing until foam appears). If the mixture does not foam, add another container of water.

4. Pre-Wet

Wet the pavers to be grouted.

5. Apply

Pour the mixture onto the area.

6. Sweep In

Sweep the mixture into the grouting gaps with a squeegee or broom. Ensure joints are evenly filled.

7. Add Water

If the mixture starts to dry, add more water. (Tip: When it foams, the water content is ideal).

8. Sweep Off

Use a soft broom to sweep excess material off the paving. Repeat this process until the paving is clean.

Please note: Romex might temporarily stain the pavers, however, it is guaranteed to disappear after 4-12 weeks.

No, ROMEX® D1 is used for gaps larger than 5mm. However, ROMEX® NP Sand can be used for gaps smaller than 5mm.

No, ROMEX® D1 does not permanently stain your paving. There will be a temporary resin film after installation that will disappear within ±3 months.
